The Legion D&BC is sponsored by the American Legion Post 161 in Redmond, WA with authorization and endorsement from the national organization. The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest veterans service organization, committed to mentoring and sponsorship of youth programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting a strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow servicemembers and veterans.
Lake Washington VFW Post 2995 The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) is the largest organization of combat veterans in the nation. The VFW was formed in 1899, chartered by Congress in 1936, and was instrumental in establishing the Veterans Administration, the GI bill, and the national cemetery system. The VFW has nearly 2 million members and more than 7500 posts serving veterans in every state and abroad.
The Northwest Youth Music Association supports programs in the performing arts for youth of ages 8 to 22 in the states of Washington and Oregon. NYMA believes that the ideal program is one that significantly challenges youth to excel to new personal heights.
The Cascades Drum & Bugle Corps was founded in 1957 and is the oldest and only nationally touring drum and bugle corps in the Pacific Northwest. Members of the Cascades come from throughout Washington, Idaho and Oregon in addition to other western states and Canada.
The "Commandant's Own" US Marine Drum & Bugle Corps is the only active duty D&BC in the US armed forces, and the only military music unit utilizing 2-valve bugles in the key of G – the same kind of instruments we use in the Legion. The "Commandant's Own" has generously allowed us to use a number of their musical compositions arranged specifically for these special instruments.
